I tried ThaiMOOC and honestly? I’m shook.

So, I recently stumbled upon something that feels like a total cheat code for learning in Thailand, and I have to talk about it. It’s called ThaiMOOC.

Here’s the thing: we’re used to paying for big platforms like Coursera or Udemy if we want quality online courses, right? But it turns out the Thai government has been quietly building this massive platform that gives us access to educational content for free. Completely free.

What is it? Think of it as the “Thai Coursera.” It’s built mainly for Thai culture and context. The courses aren’t just random videos; they come from top universities all over the country (like Chula, Mahidol, CMU) and other government agencies.

I tried a few courses, and here’s what I found:

  • The Vibe: It’s very beginner-friendly. The subjects are super essential—things you actually want to learn to upgrade your skills at home.
  • The Quality: Is it Hollywood-level production? Not always. But the content is solid. It’s good, practical knowledge.
  • The Goal: It’s not just watching videos. You actually have to pass exams. If you score over 70%, you get an official certificate. It feels pretty rewarding to actually “earn” it.

The Best Part (The Gemini Pro Perk) Okay, this is what really blew my mind. When you sign up, you don’t just get courses. You get a brand new @thaimooc.ac.th email address.

Why does that matter? Because right now, that account unlocks Google Gemini Pro for free for a year. We’re talking about one of the most powerful AI tools out there, which usually costs a monthly subscription, just handed to us for learning. That alone is worth signing up for.

Final Thoughts I’m just glad we have this. It feels like we’ve been given such powerful tools to learn and grow without hitting a paywall.

Big thanks to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and the Thailand Cyber University (TCU) team for making this happen. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you really should.
